Well the unfiltered photo above is my actual Dunkin’ Donuts Beyond Sausage Patty. It looks pretty bad, but read on. It gets better!
I’m not a huge fan of breakfast. Usually a smoothie or a bowl of oatmeal is enough for me. But my daughter wanted Dunkin’ Donuts coffee this morning and I thought it would be a great time to give their new vegan patty a try. (I love vegan food, but I do eat some meat.)
Because eating breakfast on the run is really hard when: 1) You’re trying to lose weight and, 2) You don’t eat eggs or sausage at all, I’m always on the hunt for good things to grab when I’m traveling or just busy running errands around town. So this morning I gave the DD sandwich a try.
I LOVED IT!
I got mine without cheese or egg, and the bun wasn’t buttered, so it was a little dry but the flavor was amazing! Now at almost 400 calories, you’d be better off with a Veggie Egg White Flatbread for only 240 calories. But for me, that won’t work. I just can’t get eggs down.
Even with the extra calories I still think it’s a better choice than real sausage, which has considerably more saturated fat and way too much grease.
So if you’re running around town and looking for some plant-based protein, look no further. Swing by a Dunkin’ Donuts and grab one of these savory sandwiches. Just watch out for the chocolate glazed donuts if you’re trying to lose weight!
